Self Catering Donegal Holiday Cottages near Letterkenny

An ideal touring base, the cottages are within easy reach of all parts of Donegal. Local attractions include:
Glenveagh National Park (10 minutes drive)  

Glenveagh National Park is a must see for any visitor to Donegal. Situated just ten minutes drive from the holiday cottages, the park is made up of more than 40,000 acres of mountains, lakes and woodlands. Home to Donegal's two highest mountains, Errigal and Sliabh Sneacht as well as the stunning Poison Glen, the park offers spectacular scenery.

Glenveagh Castle is open to the public from March until November.


Fintown (15 minutes drive)  

Fintown is located on the banks of Lough Finn, and boasts Donegal's only narrow gauge railway. Fintown is just ten minutes drive from Stablewoods Donegal Holiday Cottages.

New Mills (5 minutes drive)  
The New Mills Corn and Flax Mills are located on the banks of the River Swilly just 5 minutes drive from the holiday cottages. The Mills are fully operational and are open to the public. The oldest of the buildings are said to be 400 years old.  
Glebe House and Gallery (10 minutes drive)  
The Glebe Gallery is home to the Derek Hill Collection which comprises over 300 works by 20th century artists including Picasso and many leading Irish artists. The pre-regency Glebe house is well worth a visit in its own right.  

Letterkenny (10 minutes drive)


Donegal's largest town is just five minutes drive from Stablewoods holiday cottages. Letterkenny is well known for its relaxed atmosphere and vibrant entertainment.

The restaraunts, pubs and clubs of Letterkenny are an obvious attraction, and traditional Irish music is very popular in the town. The Fleadh Ceol was held in Letterkenny in 2005 and 2006. An Grianan Theatre is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

Letterkenny offers a wide range of activities inlcuding golf, go-karting, paint-balling, horse-riding, two indoor play centers (Jungle King and Arena 7) and bowling. Something for everyone!

  Gartan Outdoor Education Centre (10 minutes drive)
  Gartan Outdoor Education Centre is set on 87 acres on the shore of Lough Gartan near Churchill. Gartan includes the Gartan Outdoor Adventure Centre, Lough Veagh Boathouse, Gartan at the Coast, Gartan Outdoors and Gartan Estate. The centre offers exciting outdoor programmes for adults, youths and families, including programmes in watersports, hill walking, climbing, and camping.
